Spent the morning screwing about with the blizz downloader. This seemingly unrelated setting get me from 0.5mbit to max line speed on down load :

google chrome: click the wrench below the X that closes the window > settings > under the hood > (next to network) change proxy settings> connection tab > LAN SETTINGS > uncheck automatically detect settings.
internet explorer: tools > internet options > connection tab > LAN SETTINGS > uncheck automatically detect settings
Yeah I saw this list or similar a few weeks back when it got published.
To be honest is causes me much introspection. If you grow up in the UK , you do tend to think that the UK and Britishness is awesome an and export that every one else must want. so far I would say :
the levelling / character stories are nice.
The multiplayerness is pretty much non existent.
Unlike WoW where there is a sense of lots of players doing things, crowded cities , ppl grinding etc ; you don't really get that in ToR. In fact the social tools / experience are virtually non existent. You see a few players kill a few mobs, that look the same as the mobs you were killing 10 levels ago , and thats about it. All the multiplayer content is face roll, spam what you got till the mob dies.
